Your first step towards cutting your own hair would include placing two mirrors on the wall, one to see the front of head while the other to get a glimpse of the back of your head during the haircut. Wash your hair and dry the same with the help of a towel. Gently, comb your hair with the help of a comb. Place a sheet or towel to cover your shoulders. Begin, by combing your hair in a straight line, from the top of your head to across the whole head. In other words, frame your face like a lampshade and cover it with your hair to start cutting your own hair.
Always ensure to cut the hair around the face first and then trim the fringes. Ensure to check that your fringes always reach until your eyebrows, as they tend to shrink eventually. Try to cut only small portions of hair at a time, as per your choice, initially from the fringes going all the way up towards one ear. You may repeat the same on the other side, as soon as you reach the front portion of one ear.
Now, get back to the first ear and trim the hair located at the rear of your ear, segregating and choosing one part at a time. Try trimming to as far as your eyes can see in the mirror. When it gets a little too difficult to see your hand movement, try switching the action of cutting your own hair, towards the other ear. Once done with both sides and you do not see the sides, it clearly indicates that you are through with this portion and all you have remaining is cutting your own hair towards the backside of the head.
Focus your face towards the mirror in order to get a clear visibility on to the hair located towards the back of your head. Do not forget that this time every movement of yours is guided by the action you see in the mirror, which is completely backwards. Hence, this stage requires more attention and slower motion while cutting your own hair.
Once, you are through with cutting your own hair from front to back with the desired length, pull your hair out from the front of your head towards the back of your ears and notice if there is any trimming required to match the exact length. If need be, you may try trimming off the excess hair.Cutting Your Own Hair
